How come it is nearly the end of July? And where did summer go? Its much cooler & breezier in Northumberland today which means we have ditched the shorts & flip flops for jeans & wellies again!
We are staying at home most of the summer but luckily I have a few guests popping in for supper & the odd night so I have lots of cooking to plan, recipes to try out & table faffing to do (my favourite part of the whole occasion).
I ordered a restock of our fairtrade mats & plain candles in April, but with BREXIT, COVID & a few problems with ships getting stuck in canals they have only just arrived. I love putting coloured candles, bud vases with flowers & tablemats on the table to dress it – it sets off the occasion & makes it just that little bit more special.
Lots of you have been asking for table runners, rectangular table mats & cotton napkins. after ALOT of searching I have finally sourced some amazing hand block printed cotton ones from Jaipur, India. They are limited edition for this summer & available in a blue or grey colorway. They pair really well with the grey & blue candles & bud vases… I also love the smoked glass candle sticks with this new range & our Turkish enamelware – it all feels very Mediterranean despite being stuck at home.
