Pop & Flo’s News 3/4

How has your week been?

Reality set in a little last Monday and the girls started to miss school and their friends, they rebelled against my teaching methods too! So I have started to do more practical tasks where I can and a tick list rather than a rigid timetable has worked super well where they decide what they are doing and in what order giving them a bit of ownership in the day. We have been face timing friends after school work is completed! And using smarties in maths … who doesn’t love a bit of bribery!

Den building was a big highlight to the week…. I managed to get lots of jobs done whilst they gathered materials and constructed their den. I am looking forward to the warmer weather when we can move our classroom to the den! I have used Pintrest for homeschooling ideas (warning it is a bit addictive) go check out my board. http://pin.it/3FP06Kq

Orders have been flying in from you lovely lot. Thank you all so much for supporting my small business at this time, it really does mean SO much!

I am delivering to our small rural post office on a Monday and Wednesday, using second class royal mail for all deliveries. Little pick me up gifts to friends and birthday presents have been the main contenders this week and I have enjoyed writing notes on your behalf! I am hoping to stock cards from a local artist very soon that I can write on your behalf. Remember that there are lots of gifts starting at £4.50 … gift wrapping and extra treats are always included in your parcels. Please do get in touch if I can help in any way.

New stock has been arriving in beautiful spring colours… a perfect pick me up or little treat! Colour is definitely helping me during this time, I have been reaching for all my bright sweatshirts, belts, bangle bobbles and scarves to cheer me up. The new range is all handmade from ‘Ladies the Lunch’. Its limited edition and the unique classic designs can be worn on repeat! I would love to know what you think.

Its Pop & Flos first birthday next week, we are planning cake, balloons at home and lots of extra treats for our customers… keep an eye out online and across our social media platforms for more information.

Keep safe, enjoy the glorious spring weather and thank you once again for all your support.

Pop & Flo’s news 29/3

Just wanted to check in with you all and see how your getting on after a week on lock down.
We have had our ups and downs… it has taken time to adjust to home schooling the girls as well as been at home all the time but slowly and surely we are taking it day by day and getting in to the swing of things.

Soup and cheese scones

We have baked a lot, banana bread, cheese scones and lemon polenta cake from Nigella’s online recipe stash have been a great hit. https://www.nigella.com/recipes/lemon-polenta-cake
We are lucky enough to have hens on the farm so we get daily eggs and we have organised local businesses to deliver meat, vegetables, milk and butter so supermarket trips are few and far between. We are trying really hard to support local small businesses in Northumberland where we can.

We have also been foraging wild garlic in the wood behind the farm. Wild garlic butter was super tasty and we plan to make pesto this next week. The girls also organised an Italian restaurant last night which was surprisingly great fun. Menus, homemade pizzas and some after supper dancing really raised our spirits.

On Friday I decided to change out of my leggings a pop a colourful jumper on, some make up on and my favourite Pop & Flo triple star hoops… what a game changer! I felt a bit more human and normal … I just need to track down some hair die next !

I am still open for business … thank you all so much for your orders this week and supporting me. I am a one man band, operating from home and am taking hygiene very seriously, washing hands etc before packing up parcels. I have done some research in to cardboard, large letter post boxes that I can post small accessories out with a stamp to avoid the post office counter. They won’t have proof of postage so if you need this I can post from the post office. We have a small rural post office and I can pop there on a Monday and Wednesday to post out larger items if needed. But I am avoiding my daily postage runs at present so delivery may take a little longer. I have removed all postage costs from the website and can write little notes on your behalf if you want to send a present to cheer up a friend.

I have posted out lots of bangle bobbles to key workers this week as part of a Pop & Flo giveaway, I just hope that it puts a smile on their face and lets them know that we are all thinking of them. You lovely lot have also ordered lots to post to friends with some really uplifting notes… they start at £4.50 and are such a great little gift to let somebody know your thinking of them.

So hang on in there .. I know it may seem like a long haul but be kind to yourself, remain positive if you can, bake, dance, get some fresh air, wear colour… it’s all helps I promise!

Lots of love Han x
