Pop & Flo’s top tips to getting autumn cosy

The clocks go back tonight so its time to get cosy, light candles & hibernate….

Here is a few things that we have been doing at home to embrace the shorter days & darker evenings.

1). Light a fire – we love a fire & the girls love to help light one. Our favorite fires are ones are outside round the fire pit on a clear night, complete with rugs, scarves & hats, marshmallows for toasting, hot chocolate or a mulled cider & the star gazing app, Sky View Lite. https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/skyview-lite/id413936865

2). Make soup or a stew! Mary Berry’s new book, Simple Comforts has been on repeat in our kitchen recently offering simple comforting recipes for the winter months. https://www.maryberry.co.uk/books/book/simple-comforts

3). Embrace the flickering glow of candlelight….. candles always make it cosy & warm! Our new clean burning, fair trade candles offer over 8 hours of candle light & the wax is none drip too! Over 10 different designs to choose from. https://popandflo.com/product-category/pop-flo-at-home/candles-tealight-holders/

Pop & Flo has a great range of coloured candles & sticks to help you get cosy at home

4). Relax somewhere cosy with a good book & a coffee. Out favourite coffee is from Coffee & Kin, they make seriously tasty, plastic free compostable coffee pods. Coffee shop coffee that you can enjoy in the warmth of your own home! https://coffeeandkin.co.uk/

I have been reading American Dirt recently! Can’t put it down… well worth popping on your reading list.

5). Wrap up warm, take a walk, enjoy the autumnal colours & meet friends outside for a socially distanced coffee or glass of wine! Why not treat yourself to a super cosy Pop & Flo hat or scarf to keep the chills out. Guaranteed softness, style & wrapability!

Autumnal inspiration

We’ve never seen a year quite like this one!

Here at Pop & Flo we have taken to finding fun & happiness in the simple everyday things this autumn. We have taken long walks in the autumnal sunshine, had family roasts, baked & prettied home with colour & flowers from the garden. I have enjoyed finding new things to watch, read & listen to – The Great British Bake off being at the top on my list! Its important even in the midst if difficult times to find small things to make you smile

I am excited to show you some new autumn pieces for our ever expanding homeware range! Being at home seems to be so important at present & whether you can entertain 6 people or are under local lockdown restrictions (like us where you cannot have people in your home) its still great to have a few simple accessories to add personality & your own unique style.

We have added new more muted coloured and striped candles to our range alongside the exsisting bright ones which will add a cosy, warm glow to your home as the nights pull in. These candles are ethically made & are a clean, non drip candle… I just cant get enough of them!

If your entertaining why not try some of our new natural jute table mats? Available in red, cornflower blue, grey, natural and olive they are sure to add a sense of occasion to the evening. We also like using them down the middle of the table mid week to add a pop of colour & texture to the kitchen . They also make great mats for plants & set off a vase of flowers well.

I am super excited to show you the new Bordallo Pinheiro Portugese ceramic range that has just arrived! Hand glazed and inspired by my stylish Granny I just love the garden feel of these, the texture & the colour (yes green is my favorite colour!)

The small trinket bowls work as little bowls for chutney on a cheese board, dipping sauce for canapes, salt on the table or jewels at the sink or your dressing table. The larger bowls look great on a dresser, with lemons in, as a dip or crisp bowl … anything goes! They make the perfect unique little treat or gift …. we all need a little bowl in our lives!

Lastly I just wanted to share the most delicious apple cake recipe (link below) that I made with our bumper crop of apples this year… it is an old Mary Berry cake but it went down a storm here & was super easy to make…. a perfect pudding or cake with coffee .. we all need cake in our lives at the moment!

Finally just wanted to send you all lots of love & smiles … Han xx
