Spring style

So what do you think about the new road map to freedom?
It certainly offers a glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel… maybe life can return to some kind of normal!

I for one am just pleased that the girls are going back to school in a couple of weeks to learn with their friends in a proper school environment… not at the kitchen table!
I am looking forward to being able to work without interruption & meet a friend for a coffee or a walk or maybe even a cheeky glass of wine in the park! April may mean I can see my family again too! How exciting is that!?

With that in mind, I have popped together a couple of flat lays with Pop & Flo accessories that will help update your school run or back to work look with a pop of colour or print…. if your anything like me you have probably been in your leggings & comfy sweatshirts … so now we can escape maybe it’s the time to update your look with a cotton scarf or some new studs or hoops!

I for one have put a few pounds on in lockdown & accessories are ideal for updating your style without buying new clothes…. part of me wants to wait, get back to some running & eating more healthily once I have time & the girls are back in school & then treat myself to a couple of new pieces for spring. So until then a fab new scarf or pair of earrings will keep my outfits looking stylish ….. plus accessories always fit!

Frills & big collars are a huge trend for 2021. Why not take a look at out shirties… little collars to pop under your sweater to without the bulk of a full shirt. They are a quick & easy way to freshen up your look, ideal for a zoom call or work & one size fits all. Style with a simple hoop or huggie hoop .. perfect everyday style.
Hot pink & neon are really uplifting colours & really popular in the fashion press at the moment. Take a peek at our new neon scarf, ideal for a touch of warmth on a chilly morning & a pop of colour with your navy sweater. I love it with the new pink star mini hoops & some bangle bobbles on my wrist, jeans & my favourite Air & Grace trainers for simple, causal, laid back style.
Breton stripes are a great capsule piece & I love them in the spring. My go to breton is from Fat Face, I love the weight of the material & the dippped hem. I have styled my old periwinkle blue one here with our new cotton scarf, jeans & trainers. A simple hoop or stud would work here & I love the denim scrunchie, super soft silk to wear on your wrist or in your hair.

DID YOU KNOW ….

Sustainability has been at the top of my list when sourcing pieces for the Pop & Flo accessories collection this season. The majority of the scarves are made from 100% cotton. Some of the new earrings are made using recycled sterling silver & I love tracking down jewellery handmade by talented artisans in Turkey & India. Supporting these small businesses is really important to me.

Keep an eye out as more pieces will be incoming over the next few weeks! I hope you love them as much as I do!

Lets talk belts ….

Belts are an innovative and inexpensive way to revamp and change an outfit. They are one of the most important accessories in my wardrobe. Not only do they create shape in an otherwise frumpy style dress, they can resuscitate old friends in an instant and bring life to unworn new ones! They readjust the proportions of the body and hold your stomach in and cinch in your waist adding shape and definition.

I have lots of different styles of belts that i have collected along the years. I find that keeping them on display or attached to the top of a coat hanger on a dress or skirt reminds you how to style them and avoids you forgetting to pop them on.

My key belts to have would be:

1). Neutral thin belt in tan / navy or black to wear with jeans or a shirt dress. Pair with shoes that tone in or a bag and it creates an everyday polished look. Thin belts are brilliant at elongating your frame as they don’t over power your torso and are perfect for petite ladies as they don’t over power you. If you match belts with shoes it accentuates your leg length and makes your outfit look super stylish and expensive. Thinner belts balance your proportions if you have a short body and longer legs.

2). A fun colourful belt or one with detail such as leopard, snake or metallic. Perfect to add your own style to an outfit. If its a coloured belt try and use it to pick out a colour in your shirt or dress that way tying it in to what your wearing. Animal print is still super popular this season so adding a belt to your outfit will update your basics easily. Cinching your waist with a fun belt is super flattering and draws your eye to the narrowest part of your body. I also find if my jeans stay up with a belt they fit better… especially after an indulgent summer!

3). A thick stretchy style belt with a buckle. These work super well with a dress or skirt and shirt. They add curves and shape and a point of difference. If you have a long body and short legs they are perfect for evening out your proportions. They are also perfect for adding curves if you have an athletic shape. Be conscious of the buckle shape, if it is oval or round consider oval or round statement earrings to bring it together. If the buckle is rectangular then match your earrings accordingly. Avoid a statement necklace with a thick belt as it may all be too much.

So dig out your belts, have a play with them and get wearing them … and rejuvenate and change some of your old favorites in an instant!
