Hair Bands .. embrace the trend of the season!

Here at Pop & Flo we are always up for embracing a trend, especially if its one that needs minimal effort, is well priced and offers a stylish solution quickly (I am all for easily taming crazy hair or hiding my roots!!)

Having been a slave to my mothers demands to wear a hair band at school in the 90s, I have been cautious to try the hair bands that have been sweeping the country. Inspired by Prada & Gucci the simple hairband or Alice band is the must have accessory this autumn.

Wear them casually to keep your hair off your face or as part of a look with a shirt dress and trainers they are the new season style fix!

White shirt, simple earrings, hairband and jeans and your good to go!

I like my hairband with stud earrings or a simple hoop but anything goes. I also like to tie the band in with a colour in my shirt, dress, shoes, belt or jewels to keep it stylish and polished but again this is my preference! Have a play around and work out what best suits your style.

So take a look at our selection of spotty, animal print, Gucci inspired bee print, velvet and silk bands… you wont be disappointed!

Gucci inspired Navy Bee hairbands .. super fun, preppy and stylish.

Why are accessories key to holiday packing?

Accessories are key to making a good outfit fabulous … they add personality and individual style to your basics.

Take a simple capsule piece, jeans and a white tee, .. add earrings or a necklace, a fun bag and shoes, a belt, scarf and bracelets and the basics now look stylish and put together.

I am going on my holidays soon and being the tight Yorkshire girl that I am, I have booked two cases on for the four of us. My husband seems to travel with the kitchen sink, so I am often forced to pack light… taking only two or three pairs of shoes, basic shorts, tees, bikini, clutch, skirt, dress and a couple of kaftans … the one thing that I don’t forget are my jewels .. these are key to making my basics work.

STEP 1 DAYTIME / CASUAL LOOK

I start with my clutch, beach bag and daytime shoes or flip flops. I make sure I have pieces in neutral colours when packing light so that they will compliment most of my outfits (navy, tan, black, white). I then pick day time jewels, studs or small hoops, a couple of bracelets or the super useful bangle bobbles and possibly a delicate necklace.

Here are a few examples

STEP 2 EVENING / SMARTER LOOK

For evening or smarter occasions I then pack wedges or heels in a neutral colour that go with your clutch or bag. I also pop in a couple of pairs of statement earrings that will look good with your dressier outfits, a couple of statement bracelets or leather wraps or a statement necklace. Think about the colours of your tops and dresses, shorts and skirts that you are taking and try and tie in or compliment them if you can, or go for statements in plain gold or silver. For example large hoop earrings or a cuff bracelet. These pieces can also be used in the daytime should you want to accesorise your swimwear or casual outfits if your wanting a dressier look during the day!

You can then use these accessories to go from beach to bar, casual to smart in an instant … dressing up basics to make them look fabulous without having the extra cost of excess luggage!

If you have time, it helps to lay outfits with accesories when packing, that way you know how things will work together.

As always please do message me if you want ideas on how to put things together! Good luck with your packing and happy holidays.
