Pop & Flo’s news 29/3

Just wanted to check in with you all and see how your getting on after a week on lock down.
We have had our ups and downs… it has taken time to adjust to home schooling the girls as well as been at home all the time but slowly and surely we are taking it day by day and getting in to the swing of things.

Soup and cheese scones

We have baked a lot, banana bread, cheese scones and lemon polenta cake from Nigella’s online recipe stash have been a great hit. https://www.nigella.com/recipes/lemon-polenta-cake
We are lucky enough to have hens on the farm so we get daily eggs and we have organised local businesses to deliver meat, vegetables, milk and butter so supermarket trips are few and far between. We are trying really hard to support local small businesses in Northumberland where we can.

We have also been foraging wild garlic in the wood behind the farm. Wild garlic butter was super tasty and we plan to make pesto this next week. The girls also organised an Italian restaurant last night which was surprisingly great fun. Menus, homemade pizzas and some after supper dancing really raised our spirits.

On Friday I decided to change out of my leggings a pop a colourful jumper on, some make up on and my favourite Pop & Flo triple star hoops… what a game changer! I felt a bit more human and normal … I just need to track down some hair die next !

I am still open for business … thank you all so much for your orders this week and supporting me. I am a one man band, operating from home and am taking hygiene very seriously, washing hands etc before packing up parcels. I have done some research in to cardboard, large letter post boxes that I can post small accessories out with a stamp to avoid the post office counter. They won’t have proof of postage so if you need this I can post from the post office. We have a small rural post office and I can pop there on a Monday and Wednesday to post out larger items if needed. But I am avoiding my daily postage runs at present so delivery may take a little longer. I have removed all postage costs from the website and can write little notes on your behalf if you want to send a present to cheer up a friend.

I have posted out lots of bangle bobbles to key workers this week as part of a Pop & Flo giveaway, I just hope that it puts a smile on their face and lets them know that we are all thinking of them. You lovely lot have also ordered lots to post to friends with some really uplifting notes… they start at £4.50 and are such a great little gift to let somebody know your thinking of them.

So hang on in there .. I know it may seem like a long haul but be kind to yourself, remain positive if you can, bake, dance, get some fresh air, wear colour… it’s all helps I promise!

Lots of love Han x

Times are changing….

It’s been a whirlwind week in the Pop & Flo household … like you all we have gone from thinking Covid19 being something miles away to it literally being at our back door.

We live on a farm in Northumberland and our neighbours are my in laws. They are in isolation now and it’s so hard waving at them through the window with the girls …. but if it keeps them safe then that’s what we have to do. Hannah’s homeschool starts Monday which will be fun, thank goodness it’s spring, lambing and calving is due to start soon so that will be a welcome distraction.

Pop & Flo is continuing to operate despite all my pop up shops and fairs being cancelled. I have been overwhelmed by the support this week and the lovely messages! I will be making regular trips to the post office so if you need anything just shout. I have been posting out presents for my customers, gift wrapping is standard and I can include a note if you let me know at check out.

Local orders going out this week… I even added some daffodils from the farm for one lovely customer!

Equally if you fancy a colourful pick me up, spring scarf for the walks you will be doing or a hair band or bobble (anybody else wish they had been to the hairdressers last week?) I can post you these out to cheer you up. Free postage is standard on all orders for the foreseeable future.

I have been using my time wisely this week to explore new, budget friendly recipes and ideas to keep the girls entertained over the coming months so keep and eye out on Instagram as I will be posting these along with things to cheer you up and make you giggle.

My Dad always says that there is a silver lining to every cloud, so look for the positives, take little steps, don’t overwhelm yourself and be kind …. this will pass. Gin and coffee helps too!
Sending you all lots of love
Hannah xx
