Enamelware incoming

Testing out the new mugs in the snow …. ideal for warming hands & drinking hot chocolate!

One of the positives of lockdown is that the amazing Mason d’Ojects trade fair, normally held in Paris was online this year. I would not normally been able to view all the amazing & unique brands without attending the event but I was able to see them virtually from my kitchen table in Northumberland! A welcome distraction from homeschooling I can tell you!

In the search for table linen, I stumbled across the most beautiful enamelware, hand painted using traditional methods by artisans in Turkey. The company was founded by three ladies who wanted to recreate the colourful tables filled with food that they remembered from their childhoods. I love serving food in colourful dishes & loved the fact they were a small company using traditional methods to make & decorate their pieces… so… I popped on my super brave pants, contacted them & imported two huge boxes direct from the factory!

Luckily everything went to plan! The enamel all arrived in one piece & I am so pleased with it! The splash collection is inspired by the Mediterranean sky & turquoise seas (take me back there now!) I love the vibrant abstract patterns. I floral collection of platters & trays brings the outside in & I think these would look amazing with salads on them this summer. I also fancy popping them on the plate rack on my dresser alongside the Portuguese cabbage tablewear that I stock.

Each of the pieces is individually decorated & unique so may be slightly different to the pieces pictured online. They are all made using environmentally friendly materials & 100% recyclable. I love the fact that enamelware is sustainable, sturdy & durable… a great alternative to plastic.

Not only are the pieces practical & pretty they are resistant to heat (up to 250 degrees c), dishwasher friendly & can be used in the freezer! What is not to love!

The pieces promise to add a pop of colour to your table, dresser, picnic, BBQ, camping trip or general use in the home. Uses could include butter dish, soap dish, pen pot, mug for your outside coffee (or rose wine), trinket dish on your bedside table, plates for cold cuts, tapas or sharing plates, pizza tray, salads cake plate… the list is endless!

As you can see I am totally in love with these practical & stylish pieces & I just hope you love them as much as me!

Blue splash plate, bowl & mug
Turquoise Splash plate makes a great base for the circle & square meze dishes
Floral Madness tray is a great addition to your kitchen, super useful as a tray but we think it would look great on a plate rack or wall too. We have paired it here with the cabbage leaf bowl & trinket dish.
Lots of different options for the meze plates around the house …. trinkets or soap dishes .. anything goes!
Can’t wait to fill the green floral madness platter with salads to share with friends this summer! Ideal for cakes & tapas too.

Lockdown Love ❤️

This year going on extravagant dates & picking up treats to celebrate Valentine’s Day from the shops is off the cards. To be fair Nick & I have never really celebrated Valentine’s Day in a big way … but living in lockdown means that if we have an excuse to get dressed up or have a treat we are up for it! Anything to ring the changes of day to day lockdown life!

I thought I would share with you some postable treat ideas from small businesses that I am loving! Plus side if I buy them for Nick I get to share them too.

Emily Botham Brownies taste amazing… the perfect postable treat to share with your loved ones. Order by 10th February

Gin would definitely be my ideal gift! I love this small batch brand from my home town in Yorkshire … genius idea that you can get it in a refillable pouch too saving on postage & waste.

If a postable treat isn’t your thing why not get a takeaway treat & set the table with some candles & flowers or make up a tasty sharing platter of all your favourite snacks for a Netflix binge. You could arrange a fun zoom cocktails evening with your girlfriends( I have one this week & can’t wait) or you could take a walk with a friend (hot chocolate essential). Doing something just a little bit different will definitely fill your heart & make you smile whether you celebrate Valentine’s Day or not.

Happy February
